Mantsopa Takes Proactive Step to Improve Audit Outcomes The Mantsopa Local Municipality (MLM) is sharpening its financial governance systems through a focused skills intervention aimed at strengthening audit outcomes and institutional accountability. Municipal Manager, Matiro Mogopodi convened a one-day Auditor-General South Africa workshop at the Manyatseng Council Chamber in Ladybrand, bringing together a cross-section of finance officials, from senior managers and accountants to internal auditors, risk officers and finance clerks. The session was facilitated by Mr. Daniel Weideman, a senior officer from the Auditor-General office, who provided a comparative analysis of the 2024/2025 financial year report against the 2025/2026 report

After further testing, E. coli bacteria was detected in Ladybrand at a private water point that does not, and has never, supplied water to the community. In Tweespruit, the bacteria was likewise identified at a private water point that does not provide water to the community. Metsimaholo Sets National Standard in Municipal Communication CAPE-TOWN – The Communications Division of Metsimaholo Local Municipality, led by Dr. Gino Alberts, has earned national recognition after being named the “Most Proactive and Responsive Team” at the South African Local Government Association National Local Government Communicators Forum Awards. The ceremony was recently held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (ICC 2), where communicators from municipalities across the country gathered to celebrate excellence in public sector communication. COMMUNITY STATEMENT: TERENENG SEWER MAINTENANCE UPDATE The Municipality wishes to inform the residents of Tereneng in Manyatseng and surrounding areas that we are fully aware of the ongoing sewer spillages affecting parts of the community. Upon identification of the problem, the Municipality immediately dispatched the Sewer Maintenance Team together with the Roads and Stormwater Team to conduct mop-up, cleaning, and clearing operations. The teams are currently working on site to unblock affected lines, remove debris, and improve stormwater flow in order to mitigate further spillages. COMMUNITY NOTICE UPDATE ON WATER SUPPLY – MAUERSNEK AND HIGH-LYING AREAS The community of Mauersnek and surrounding high-lying areas is hereby informed of the latest update regarding the recent water supply interruption. The municipality would like to confirm that a pipe burst occurred, resulting in water outages that have affected the area for the past 48 hours. The Municipal Water Team has been on site attending to the repairs, and we are pleased to confirm that the damaged pipe has now been successfully repaired.
